Hi, I hope you guys don't mind me posting in English. I'm from Belgium and my German is not that good. Sorry for this.
It's my first post, so if I'm doing anything wrong on this forum, just let me know.
I noticed that this thread is about making kydex sheats.(I hope it is, if not, please delete this post)
I have some pics about me making my first kydex sheat. From the beginning till the end.
Here it goes:
First the neccesary materials: I went to pick up a camping mat in the adventure store and a heat gun (to remove paint) in the hardware store.
Pic 2: I taped the blade, because I read that you should do this. Otherwise, the kydex fits too tight around the blade.
As you can see, I made a sheat for a balisong. This kind of knife needs a very tight fit, so in my second attempt (see pics below), I didn't use the tape.
This is a 1mm kydex sheat.
I placed the Kydex on my old anvil to heat it up safely. This wasn't neccesary. It's not too hot to handle.
I didn't need the pliers.
Sorry, no pics of me bending the hot Kydex. (didn't have time). But here I'm forming the kydex around my balisong. I used my full weight.
This is how the stuff gets out.
Now I had to make a pocket clip for it. I take a 2mm kydex sheat for this.
The finished product. I used two bolts to attatch the clip to the sheat.
Front view. Notice that I took off the sharp edges with a sanding paper and a file.
Here you can see how I used bolts to attatch the clip to the sheat.
This was my first attempt. But because I wasn't totally happy with it, I tried again...
I changed the design a bit and used 2mm kydex instead of 1mm.
Look at the difference:
