Hallo zusammen,
es freut mich sehr das mir hier die Möglichkeit gegeben wird in meinem eigenem Forum mit Euch Kontakt zu halten.
Hier werde ich Arbeiten aus meiner Werkstatt vorstellen, Test`s dokumentieren, Fragen möglichst schnell beantworten, mit Euch diskutieren und Gedanken zum Thema Schmieden und handgemachter Messer austauschen.

Hallo, Uli, finde ich prima.
Gleich die erste Frage: hat sich was aus den Materialuntersuchungen ergeben an der Klinge aus der Feile, damals von Solingen, meine ich? Bin halt neugierig.
Und bitte: viele schöne Bilder von Deinen tollen Messern. Das Auge will ja auch was.
Freu mich auf den Fortgang des Forums von Dir.

First, my apologies for posting this in English!

I saw your post in Bladeforums recently and I recognized your name from Hartink's "Encyclopaedia of Knives"! When I bought this book, I was particularly impressed with the photo of the "Hobo" - gorgeous lines!

So - when I saw your posting in BFC, I thought I'd wander over here and have a look around. I was so impressed with this forum - I joined!

I'll just be lurking here for a while - I haven't written anything in German for many, many years. But I have no problem reading German, as long as it's not too technical. And I'm sure I'll pick up the correct terminology as time passes. Besides, all of my nephews and nieces back in Hamburg all speak fluent English and I can see the same influence here - after all, when a poster in a German forum uses the phrase "Bad Ass", I'm sure I'll feel at home in no time! (and it might even give me an opportunity to practice my German writing skills.)

Hallo Holger,
das Hobo ist eines meiner ersten Messer damals noch in ATS 34,
ich habe es meiner Frau geschenkt und sie hat es heute noch im Gebrauch.
Schön das es Dir gefällt.

Your English is very good. Certainly better than my German!

I will try to list my email address correctly tonight. Who knows - if I visit here on a regular basis my German language skills might even return to me eventually. (Sie mussen entschuldigen - Ich komm von Hamburg! )
